Our Context:
A tremendous, unmet opportunity exists to fund climate change solutions. Consider these data: The ClimateWorks Foundation reports that total climate mitigation funding is about 2.1% of worldwide charitable giving. Within the United States, the share of charitable giving dedicated to climate change is lower, traditionally tracking at under 1%.
How is that funding allocated? “Minding the Gaps,” a report by the nonprofit organization One Earth, found that 89% of funding for Climate Solutions goes to the Energy sector, 7% to Agriculture, and 4% to Nature Conservation.
Clearly, we need far more investment in protecting Nature! This means safeguarding intact ecosystems, restoring degraded lands and waters, and reconnecting habitats for wildlife and people. Meanwhile, investing in Regenerative Agriculture practices rebuilds living soils, increases on-farm biodiversity, and moves carbon from the air (where we have it in excess) into the ground (where it is needed). Working with you, Wildwood Advising aims to help address these funding gaps and create a more abundant future.
